Supported through a collective bargaining agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 569 (IBEW Local 569) and the San Diego Chapter of the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA), apprenticeships are made available to qualified applicants and advanced training for all beneficiaries of the Training Trust (SDETT).

Inside Wireman Apprenticeship Program
This program is a 5-year training program approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards for the State of California. The program requires that each apprentice receive a minimum of 8000 hours of on-the-job training in the electrical construction industry with the supervision of a journeyman wireman electrician.

This program is a 4-year training program approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards for the State of California. The program requires that each apprentice receive a minimum of 6400 hours of on-the-job training in the electrical construction industry with the supervision of a journeyman sound electrician.

Apprenticeship combines on-the-job and classroom training, preparing the apprentice for a career as a skilled craftsman. Apprentices work during the day at training assignments with contractors (employers), who pay the apprentice directly for time worked. Apprentices may be sent to work anywhere in San Diego and Imperial counties.
Apprentices attend school two nights per week two semesters during the year (ETI operates on a trimester year). Our apprenticeship classes are credited through Palomar College, San Marcos, California. All classes are held in classrooms and labs at our training facility in San Diego and/or Imperial Valley.

ETI programs are approved for V.A. benefits, and with military background you can automatically by-pass some of our entrance requirements.
Apprentice Pay
Since the COVID-19 shutdown in March, all regularly scheduled onsite Friday makeups were canceled.
We have four available makeup dates which will utilize video conferencing via Zoom meetings. If you wish to participate you will need to enroll/sign up for the class. You will need a device you can use to access the meeting/app/internet with. You will need to log in early and participate in the class, the entire time. All Apprentice and ET rules, regulations, and guidelines apply. Please take advantage of this opportunity. The makeup classes mentioned above are available on ATS now. If you do not have ATS access and would like to enroll please email info@sdett.org or call 8585696633 ext. 411.
ET’s: if you have any open absences, that have not been made up by the end of these makeup classes, you will not receive credit for the semester. If you have too many absences (more than four open absences or greater than 14hrs to makeup), unfortunately, we will not be able to give you credit for the semester.
